Sony Xperia Z Tablet vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1: Which is the best?
Sony comes back to the market strong proving it can also compete with the top runners in the tablet market today. Their product, the Sony Xperia Z, has gathered positive reviews both in design and interface. Not only is the tablet elegantly designed, it is also water-resistant and easy to carry around. Around the same time, Korean tech giant Samsung has also released their 10.1 Galaxy Tab 3. Which is the better option?
A rundown of the specs of these two tablets should help consumers decide which device fits their needs best.
Design
Sony Xperia Z has received praises for its design. The device is as thin as a cutting board staying true to the "Omnibalance" design line pursued by the Japanese tech giant. The front offers a uniform black coat. A wide boarder surrounds the display but this is hardly noticeable with the black comprised of plastic feeling as if it is paper.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, on other hand, offers a minimalistic and elegant framework. The device sports a high-gloss look including a wide chrome frame similar on other Galaxy S4 series products. The craftsmanship works well for both smartphones and tablets of Samsung. However, weighs more than its Xperia competitor. It is also thicker.
Sony Xperia Z has been commended for its exemplary look and feel.
Display
Both the Galaxy Tab and the Xperia Z tablet sport 10.1-inch screen. However, they do not have the same aspect ratio. Sony is more focused on the wide-screen ratio which is at 16:10 for the Xperia Z whereas Samsung stuck with a 2:3 format. Xperia Z offers a better and higher screen resolution. Users will not have a hard time comparing this feature as it evident on the first test. Even using normal viewing distance, the Galaxy Tab has evident blurring lines and single pixels.
Both tablets have the same brightness capacity. Nonetheless, the Galaxy Tab 3 provides purer and more neutral colors compared to Sony. This is surprising for a tablet packed with a more outdated display technology. Both devices have excellent angle stability. The contrast and color remain constant even through oblique viewing positions.
Hardware
The chipset is the biggest hardware difference between the two. Xperia Z tablet runs on a Snapdragon S4 Pro with a quad-core chipset clocked at 1.5 GHz clock plus 2GB memory. This is enough to manage gaming and multi-tasking. The Galaxy Tab 3 has a weaker processor. It runs on a chipset clocked at 1.6 GHz clock speed with 1GB memory.
