Sony Xperia Z1, Z and Z Ultra with Android 4.4 KitKat
Sony Mobile is committing to its promise of faster upgrade releases as new reports claim that the company will be releasing the Android 4.4 KitKat firmware for the Xperia Z1 - the king of waterproof phones.
Sony has been working on Android 4.4 KitKat software update for Xperia Z1 based on new reports which is scheduled in November 7, 2013. There is no exact or complete idea what will be the changes owners can expect from Sony's version of Android 4.4 on the Xperia Z1 smartphone but reports are sure that Sony plans to implement new things and improve features built inside the phone.
Expected possible changes may include Sony Media apps, Xperia UI, Xperia home launcher, optimised X-Reality engine for mobile, security patches and major bug fixes. Hangouts may remain as secondary SMS/MMS client on Xperia Z1 as Sony has its own messaging app client.
After Xperia Z1 gets an Android 4.4 KitKat, it will be followed by two other members of the Xperia Z family - Xperia Z and Xperia Z Ultra. It is obvious that Sony made priority on their three flagship Z smartphones before dealing with others due to an upcoming Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update soon to be released.
Included to the Xperia Z family are Xperia ZR, ZL and SP which are all getting Android 4.3 with probable release by late November or early December. Sony hasn't announced the complete list of Xperia devices getting Android 4.4 KitKat next year.
