Sony Xperia Z2 2014 Expectations: 2-3 GB RAM, IGZO Display, 505 PPI, 20.7 MP Sony G Lens and 1-Hour Charging
Sony will attend the CES event in 2014 where we may likely see a sneak preview of its upcoming flagship smartphone rumoured as Xperia Z2 Avatar. Here are the top features consumers should expect from the Sony Xperia Z1 successor.
High-Powered Hardware
Sony is expected to improve the processor and RAM on the Xperia Z2 Avatar. Leaks indicate that the Z2 will sport Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2 GHz processor, 2 or 3 GB of RAM, 5 inches of screen with IGZO display and 506-ppi pixel density.
If Sony waits for Qualcomm to finish developing high-class 64-bit processor, we may see another variant of the Xperia Z2 in the middle of 2014.
Operating System
Android 4.4 KitKat is likely the operating system running the Xperia Z2 with brand new features based on the Xperia Z1. Sony may incorporate its own media and printing services inside Google's new OS version for Cloud Print, Wireless Payment and cloud-based storages.
Xperia UI and Features
Xperia UI is definitely the user interface on the Z2 with Android 4.4, Triluminos and X-Reality display engines, Sony exclusive apps, Sony exclusive multimedia services and anti-hazard proofing such as dust and water resistances. In addition, the Xperia Z2 will boast new camera shooting modes and feature Sony G lens.
Powerful Camera
Sony isn't going to let the Xperia line go down in terms of camera power. Rumours reveal that the Z2 will have the same Xperia Z1 20.7 MP Sony G lens with Carl Optics camera modules but with updated Z1-based camera apps such as Motion Shot, TimeShift Burst and AR Effect.
As with flagship standards, we may expect Optical Image Stabilisation, Optical Zooming and Xenon flash on the Xperia Z2.
Unique Features
Sony aims to significantly reduce the recharging time on its smartphones without compromising battery life or risking overcharging on the Xperia Z2. According to reports from Nikkei, development is ongoing for one of Sony's upcoming device which will use 10 to 15 W of electricity to double the rate of current chargers.
The speed will make future Sony Xperia devices recharge fully in just an hour but will not damage anything. Wireless Power Consortium is in the process of finalising the specs of the new charging technology using wireless connection.
Appearances
Indonesian Web site Postel and Antutu benchmark revealed seven upcoming Sony Xperia devices in 2014 with one being a flagship smartphone. D6503 from D650X series is the upcoming 2014 Sony flagship that could be the Z2 Avatar. It will be accompanied by mid-range phones such as D5322 and D5303 from D53XX series and D2005, D2105, D2303 and SGP521.
SGP521 is expected to be the new Xperia tablet for 2014 that features LTE connectivity based on the model number used.
