Sony's Xperia line has been a success for the most part with the third installment of the Z series coming soon. According to the latest leak, the Sony Xperia Z3 has been spotted in two new images shedding more light on its upcoming features. Can Sony deliver a similar killer device?

Notorious tipster @evleaks released two new sets of images claiming to be the next Sony Xperia Z3 line. Although the images do not provide as many details about the exact specs of the handset, GSM Arena pointed out that the leaked images coincide with the information leaked two weeks ago. According to the images, the device will sport rounded edges. This is different from the flatter and sharper edges of the Xperia Z2.

The images do not show a clear picture of the back panel. It appears to be made of glass similar to the existing flagship. The lens of the camera, on other hand, follows a similar design to the existing design featuring one single LED flash. The side of the handset sports the volume rocker, camera shutter and seemingly enhanced power button.

According to the Epoch Times, whereas the Sony Xperia Z3 strives to be a better version of the existing flagship, the expected features looks too similar to the Z2. According to @evleaks, the specs of the Z3 include: Android 4.4.4 KitKat, 5.15-inch 1080 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.4Ghz with Adreno 330, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

The Sony Xperia Z2, on other hand, features 5.2-inch 1080 display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.3 GHz with Adreno 330, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Taking aside the upgraded processor and slightly larger display, the Z3 hardly seems a huge leap from the Z2.

Sony will reportedly release the Z3 this September. Analysts believe that the company needs to have a major breakthrough in handset technology if it wants to compete with major releases this latter part of the year. Samsung and Apple are also expected to release new handsets this fall.
