Sony Xperia Z3 vs Sony Xperia Z2: Should You Really Consider Upgrading to Xperia Z3
The Sony Xperia Z3 was announced on September 3 for replacing the Xperia Z2 that came in April this year. This shows that Sony wants to offer its customers with the latest and fresh features. The successor model, the Xperia Z3, was launched six months after the predecessor. Should you really consider upgrading to the new Xperia Z3?

Design
When compared to the Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z3 is sporting the same Omnibalance design and aluminum frame. However, the new flagship certainly has a refreshingly appeal thanks to the sleeker design, elegant tempered glass exterior and curvier edges. Like Sony Xperia Z2, the Xperia Z3 is resistant to dust and water.
Apart from the design, the Sony Xperia Z3 differs from Xperia Z2 in aspects like thickness and weight. The Xperia Z2 measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 163g whereas the Xperia Z3 measures 7.3mm and weighs 152g.
The Xperia Z2 is available in colors like black, white and purple whereas the Xperia Z3 black, white, copper and silver green.
Display
The Xperia Z3 does not come with quad HD display but features the same full HD 1,080p Triluminous technology enabled IPS LCD display present on Xperia . The 5.2inch display offers a pixel density of 424ppi. It is the very same display that is present on the Xperia Z2. However, when you look at both the displays quite closely, you will notice that the Sony Xperia Z3's display is brighter to Xperia Z2's display.
Processor and RAM
Both the handsets feature Snapdragon 801 Krait 400 quad-core processors. However, the Xperia Z3's processor delivers a performance of 2.5GHz. The Sony Xperia Z2's processor produces a processing speed of 2.3GHz. Both are equipped with Adreno 330 graphics. Also, Sony has not upgraded the RAM on the Sony Xperia Z3 as both the devices are featuring 3GB RAM.
Storage and Software
As far as internal storage is concerned, the predecessor came with only one inbuilt storage option of 16GB. The new Xperia Z3 comes two internal storage options of 16GB and 32GB. The external memory slots of both the handsets support up to 128GB of microSD.
On the software front, the Xperia Z2 offers Android v4.4.2 KitKat whereas the Xperia Z3 offers v4.4.4 KitKat. Both have the Sony UI laid on the top. One cool thing that is unavailable with the Xperia Z2 is that when Wi-Fi connectivity is available, users can enjoy playing PlayStation 4 console games. Another cool feature of Xperia Z3 is that the new DSEE HX technology converts low quality sound output into high quality sound output.
Camera
The Xperia Z2 already features a powerful 20.7MP camera. It is equipped with single LED flash. The very same camera sensor comes embedded inside the new Xperia Z3. Both the handset also features the same 2.2MP front-facing camera which can shoot 1080p quality videos. According to Sony, Xperia Z3 has enhanced G Lens optics which will allow users to take advantage of wider shooting angles from the same distance.
Sony has upped the ISO to 12800 on Xperia Z3. Such a feature is offered by no other smartphone yet. It will allow users to snap better quality photos in dim lighting conditions. Also, it brings new features like Steady Shot, Intelligent Active mode, AR fun, Mulitcamera and Live on YT to name a few.
Connectivity and Battery
Both Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z2 offer wide range of connectivity features like microUSB v2.0 with MHL 3, USB OTG and 3G, 4G LTE and Wi-Fi, v4.0 Bluetooth, aGPS and GLONASS.
The Sony Xperia Z2 has a non-removable 3,200mAh battery. On the upgraded Xperia Z3, Sony is offering a non-removable battery of 3,100mAh capacity. According to Sony, the battery of Xperia Z2 can last up to 1.4 days and the one present inside the Xperia Z3 can last up to two days.
