A Special Engagement Shoot with Guest Zombie: The Zombie Engagement Shoot that went Viral
Want to make your engagement pictures memorable? How about inviting a flesh-eating zombie to crash the shoot?
The engagement photos of Julianna Park and Ben Lee showed the happy couple with an additional guest: a ragged, bloodthirsty zombie. And overnight the quirky zombie themed shoot became an Internet sensation.
Shot in Valencia, Calif., this June, the photos show the couple on an idyllic picnic before they are attacked by a zombie. They defend themselves with bread knives and anything that happens to be at hand.
Photographer Amanda Rynda, who works with the bride-to-be, loved the concept of the shoot. The couple came up with the idea for the shoot all on their own.
"We want to survive a zombie attack and then hug because we're in love," Park told Rynda.
"It's inspiring to see a couple really come to life and be themselves instead of conforming to what is normal or standard," Rynda said. "Besides, there is enough time to take the traditional photos on the wedding day."
The horror-themed shoot has now gone viral, getting thousands of hits from fans who want to replicate it.
The gate-crashing zombie was played by the couple's friend, Jason Boesch, a co-worker at Disney Animation Studios.
"We thought it would be hard to find," Park said.
"We were thinking how funny it would be if he came dressed as the zombie," she said about the possibility of the zombie making at appearance at the wedding. "But we're also thinking about the older people at the wedding who might be weirded out."
The couple is set to be married Oct. 15 in Los Angeles.
