Speculated Samsung Galaxy S6 Specifications Surface, Handset Codenamed As Project Zero Will Support Upgraded Specs
Samsung has released two flagship smartphones this year, the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 4. Next year, the successor model of the Galaxy S5 will arrive. According to SamMobile, Samsung is already working on the Samsung Galaxy S6 and it will come out with a refreshing design.
PhoneArena states that even though Samsung handsets always received good reception from the audience, the financial position of the manufacturer is not as good as it used to be in the past. Stats from IDC indicate that in comparison with Q3 shipments of 2013, the shipments in the same period in this year have dropped by 8.2 percent. Hence, in a bid to gain the lost ground, Samsung is designing the Galaxy S6 right from the scratch. Hence, the Galaxy S6 is codenamed as Project Zero.
SamMobile has listed the first batch of rumoured Samsung Galaxy S6 specifications. The handset will feature a display that will support quad HD resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. The size of the display is not known yet. CNET states that the display would be sized around 5.2-inch.
Like the Galaxy Note 4 which came out in two CPU variants, Snapdragon 805 SoC and Exynos octa-core 5433 SoC, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is also speculated to be available in two CPU variants, namely the 64-bit Snapdragon 810 chipset and the Exynos octa-core 7420 chipset that is rumoured to offer 64-bit computing. SM-G920 and SM-G925 are the two model numbers of the Galaxy S6.
The rear camera of the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be similar to the one present inside the Galaxy Note 4. It will be a Sony IMX240 camera sensor and it is not confirmed whether it will support 16 MP or 20 MP. It may support optical image stabilization. The front-facing camera will be a 5 Mp selfie camera.
On the storage front, the Galaxy S6 is expected to come in storage options like 32 GB, 64 GB and even 128 GB. Rumours have it that Samsung will not release 16 GB Galaxy S6 edition. So, the base model would be 32 GB edition. It will also come with microSD card slot.
SamMobile even states the handset will feature a new Exynos Modem 333 for LTE connectivity. The Broadcom BCM4773 will support other connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.
