Sony Pictures Entertainment and Marvel Studios have joined hands to take ahead the “Spider-Man” franchise.

"We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters. Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy, who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man," said Michael Lynton, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, reports Marvel.

Lynton also said that the collaboration will steer the franchise in the right direction. Both Sony and Marvel have an endearing passion for Spiderman universe. According to Doug Belgrad, president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, the deal between two studios is the “perfect way” to further build upon the world of Peter Parker.

As per the new deal, Spiderman will first feature in a Marvel film and then it will be seen in an instalment produced by Sony. The Sony’s Spiderman film will be released on July 28, 2017. Meanwhile, it is not known in which Marvel film will Spiderman join the league of Iron Man, Captain America, Hulk and others. Though there has been a rumour that Spiderman can be seen in “Captain America: Civil War.”

Comicbook in its recent report quoted a source from Wall Street Journal which suggests that the web slinger will be casted in “Captain America: Civil War” which is scheduled to be released in 2016. “Captain America: Civil War” will be set after the events of “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” It will revolve around the story of Avengers who will form two groups after an act to standardise the superhuman activities will be passed. A civil war will take place between the two groups of superheroes.

Spiderman could join anyone of the groups though nothing has been confirmed in this regard. Meanwhile, it is also not known whether Andrew Garfield will continue playing Spiderman or will there be a new face who will establish himself as the new “Spider-Man.”
