‘Spider-Man' Reboot: Asa Butterfield Is The New Peter Parker In Fan-Made 'Captain America: Civil War' Poster
Whether Asa Butterfield is the new Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider Man remains uncertain at this point. However, a new “Captain America: Civil War” poster created by a fan gives a look at how the 18-year old may look like as the web slinger.
Instagram user named Alastor_c, who described himself as A Photoshop Jedi Master, shared his own version of the “Captain America: Civil War” poster on his page. Front and centre on the poster is believed to be Asa Butterfield dressed as Spider-Man, with half of his face revealed through a huge tear on his mask. Movie scoopster Umberto Gonzalez shared the same image on his Instagram page and captioned it, “Another hot #CivilWar poster featuring Asa Butterfield as SPIDER-MAN!”
The image has since received over 622 likes on Alastor_c’s page and over one thousand likes on Umberto’s Instagram page. However, few commented on how the actor doesn’t resemble Asa Butterfield at all. Instead, according to user balving, the Peter Parker behind the Spider Man suit “at first glance” looks like Tobey Maguire. Although the poster is clearly not official, user _nutellie thought the art was “wicked.”
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are reportedly still on the hunt for their next actor who can play as the high school Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. There have been previous reports of Asa Butterfield being the number one contender. Umberto Gonzalez once said on his Instagram post that the 18-year old has been the studio’s choice from the beginning. While Comicbookmovie also cited a source who claimed Asa Butterfield may have been cast already for the role since he’s been Marvel’s choice as the new Spider Man “since day one.”
The new Spider Man will be marking his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cameo appearance in “Captain America: Civil War” on May 6, 2016. No details have been revealed yet regarding his role in the sequel. Then the web slinger will follow up his introduction into the MCU with a solo film in July 2017. The new Peter Parker will star in the “Spider-Man” reboot, which has been rumoured to have been given the working title “Spider-Man: The New Avenger.”
