“The Walking Dead” star Norman Reedus said that his son could have been the next Spider-Man. The actor revealed that Mingus Reed was offered to audition for the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot.

In an exclusive interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Norman Reedus revealed that Mingus Reed was offered to be a part of the “Spider-Man” reboot. Norman said his 15-year old son “had a couple of these calls” asking if he would want to audition for the role of Peter Parker in the movie.

“We got this call because they are going to make a new Spider-Man, and he’s like 14 or 15. They asked, ‘Would Mingus want to audition for Spider-Man?” Norman Reedus explained.

However, Mingus Reed apparently doesn’t want to become a star of his own since per his father, “he always said no to all of them.” Norman recalled hearing his son say he didn’t want to audition for the Spider-Man role since he didn’t “want to ruin his life.” When pressed for an explanation, Mingus simply told his father that he didn’t “want to be famous.”

Despite Mingus Reed’s refusal to audition for Spider-Man, Norman Reedus expressed how proud he is of his son. He revealed during the interview that Mingus has become his role model, since he’s learning more from him than he is learning from his father. “He’s got such a good head on his shoulders,” Norman Reedus added.

Asa Butterfield is reportedly still frontrunner for the role of Peter Parker in the “Spider-Man” reboot. According to Deadline, other young stars have also auditioned but the 18-year old “Enders Game” star is still first on Marvel and Sony’s list. However, an official announcement has yet to be made to confirm Butterfield’s role as the new Spider-Man.

The new Peter Parker will mark his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a cameo appearance in the May 6, 2016 film “Captain America: Civil War.” No details have been revealed yet about his involvement in the sequel. The web slinger will then appear in his own film in the 2017 “Spider-Man” reboot, which has been rumoured to have been given the working title “Spider-Man: The New Avenger.”
