'Star Trek' TV series plot set before Captain Picard took over the Enterprise; Leonard Nimoy documentary trailer released
With a new “Star Trek” TV series finally in the works, details about the plot are slowly emerging. The plot of the show will reportedly be set a few years before Captain Picard took over the Enterprise. Meanwhile, the first trailer of Leonard Nimoy documentary has been released online.
The new TV series will be aired on CBS next year. The plot of the show will be set a few years after the events of “Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country” and before “The Next Generation,” Birth Movies Death reports. This means that the show will not continue the storyline from the reboot of J.J. Abrams.
The TV series will “not be set on an Enterprise,” the report states. An unconfirmed rumour about the show hints at the possibility of the Klingons playing the role of villains again after a long time. The last time the species were seen in the movie “The Undiscovered Country,” Captain Kirk (William Shatner) managed to secure peace between the humans and the Klingons, despite war mongers on both side.
The new “Star Trek” TV series will be helmed by Bryan Fuller. Fuller has been a writer and producer of popular TV series like “Hannibal” and he is currently working on “American Gods.” Casting details and other announcements about the Sci-fi series are expected soon.
Meanwhile, the trailer of the Nimoy documentary titled “For the Love of Spock” has been posted on Variety. The trailer teases multiple interviews with the some of the cast members who worked with the late actor, including Shatner. The cast members of Abrams’ reboot, such as Zachary Quinto (Spock) also shared their thoughts in the documentary.
None of the cast members who worked with Nimoy are expected to be featured in the new “Star Trek” TV series. The producers are yet to announce who will be the new captain on the show and what his mission will be in the first season.
