The highly anticipated "Star Wars: Battlefront" will launch a month before the release of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens" on December 18. This will be the first "Star Wars" game launched by Disney after it took over LucasArts in 2013.

Fortune posted a report on the game's commercial outlook, and the signs seem rosy for Disney and EA. According to the report, by virtue of being a "Star Wars" property and the fact that there has been no releases since 2013, "Star Wars: Battle front" could generate as much as $600 million in revenue. “It’s 'Star Wars,' and the brand has a much broader level of recognition than the other games, period,” industry analyst Michael Pachter tells Fortune. “Grandma will buy 'Star Wars' over the other two as a holiday gift because she doesn’t know what 'Halo' is.”

Another reason that Disney might have a mammoth hit on their hands is that the "Battlefront" series itself is very popular with gamers. According to International Business Times, fans have been longing for a third game for a long time, especially after Pandemic Studios canceled "Battlefront 3" plans. Pachter estimates the first games sold about eight million copies, and believes the upcoming Battlefront could reach ten million in sales.

Despite all the hype, fans seem cautious about the new game as few features from the previous "Battlefront" titles will not be included in the upcoming release. There are also concerns over the number of maps and potential exploitative DLC. According to MCVUK.com, these concerns made the developers at DICE take to Reddit to ensure fans they will be getting a product worthy of its price.

Fortune also reported that Ada Duan, vice president of digital business and franchise management at Lucasfilm, to disclose that EA was chosen because they had developers sharing a vision for the future of "Star Wars" in games. He added that this was not a "normal licensing relationship" and that it was a "deep" partnership. He also said that DICE was working to inspire players to create their own personal "Star Wars" battle fantasies.

"Star Wars: Battlefront" is an online multi-player game for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation. The game is based on Episodes IV-VI and will be released by November 17 this year.
