'Star Wars Battlefront' finally gets season pass details from EA and DICE
When EA Games and DICE announced the US$50 (AU$70.28) season pass for “Star Wars Battlefront,” many fans wondered if it would be worth it considering the price. Now the fans will no longer have to ponder, as EA Games has released all the contents of the pass.
According to the site, the pass will feature the following:
- 20 new pieces of galactic tech, including new weapons and vehicles, as well as Starcards for both rebels and imperials; four more heroes and villains will be available to use or fight in the game, though the identity of said heroes and villains remain unknown.
- Four expansion packs, which will supposedly contain new content set across the galaxy of “Star Wars
- 16 additional multiplayer maps, some of which will feature new locations
- Four new game modes, though no details were given about how they play differently
- Two-week early access to those who get the season pass; those without the season pass will have to wait for the new content longer
- An exclusive “shoot first” emote, which pays tribute to the ongoing debate among fans on whether Han Solo shot Greedo first.
VG24/7 has stated that the first expansion pack would be available sometime in 2016, while no other date has been given for the other three. The pass will supposedly help support the game for more than a year, so it’s possible that the other expansions will come out in 2016 and 2017.
Additionally, more details about the season pass will be revealed “in the coming weeks.” Perhaps the company will announce more information regarding the expansion packs or the new characters joining the game.
“Star Wars Battlefront” is available now on the PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC. The game is a multiplayer-only shooter, where fans get to choose who they side with, whether it’s the Rebel Alliance or the Empire.
The game also has locations based on the upcoming “Force Awakens” film, which comes out next month. Fans can expect more content related to the film once the movie comes out in December.
