'Star Wars: The Force Awakens': A Different Look Of Kylo Ren From Early Concept Art Revealed Plus Producer Talks About Strong Women Characters
The new trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” gives the fans a better look at the main villain, Kylo Ren. A new report reveals how the early concept arts of the character vastly differed from what the fans finally got to see in the trailer. Meanwhile, producer of the movie Kathleen Kennedy spoke about strong women characters in the movie franchise.
The costume of Kylo Ren includes a silver coloured helmet and a hooded robe. The costume was also on display during the “Star Wars” Celebrations event. IndieRevolver, the website that accurately shared concept arts and other spoilers about the upcoming movie, has shared a new report on the concept art of the main villain.
The concept art of Kylo Ren is said to be from the pre-production phase of development and the design did not make it to the final stage. This image of the villain shows the character to be wearing a red mask and armour, covered with a black hooded robe. The red mask has a circular design at the centre.
The red mask concept art is said to be by Glyn Dillon, the artist who designed the helmet seen in the trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” The report also includes this image of a lightsaber that was supposed to be used instead of the cross guard lightsaber of Kylo Ren. The designers apparently called it “wampa saber,” as it has wampa claw embedded on it.
The wampa saber did not feature in the trailers of “Star Wars: The force Awakens” and according to the report, the design was abandoned by the producers. The trailer also showed Daisy Ridley as Rey and a Chrometrooper that may have been Gwendoline Christie.
Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm and producer of the upcoming movie, spoke to BBC about how there will be changes in the “Star Wars” universe with respect to the kind of roles women will get to play.
“We’re putting women in strong roles,” Kathleen Kennedy said in the report. She believes that movies should “reflect the audience” and that’s what the movies from the franchise will attempt to do. Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to see both Daisy Ridley and Gwendoline Christie in their action oriented roles in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
