'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer Gets A 'Top Gun' Re-Edit With Tom Cruise Wielding A Red Lightsaber
A new video edited by a fan shows the trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with music from the 1986 movie “Top Gun.” The video also includes a scene where Tom Cruise can be seen wielding a red lightsaber.
Two trailers of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” have been released so far. This fan edited video shows footage from both the trailers with the theme music of “Top Gun.” The 1986 Tom Cruise starrer tells the story of a fighter pilot and focuses mainly on how pilots train to become the best in aerial combat that is also known as dog fighting.
The video begins with the theme music of “Top Gun” and footage from the second trailer of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Instead of Tom Cruise riding his powerful bike, viewers find the character Rey riding her speeder bike. The video also showcases the significance of the lightsaber in the movie by featuring the cross guard lightsaber from the first trailer and the scene of another lightsaber, which is believed to belong to Luke Skywalker, from the second trailer.
The action sequences from both the first and the second trailers of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” appear next in the video. The music is changed to the fast paced song “Danger Zone,” by Kenny Loggins. The song is also from the “Top Gun” movie.
Instead of Tom Cruise flying his fighter jet, viewers find Oscar Isaac flying his X-Wing fighter plane that belongs to the Rebel Alliance. Oscar Isaac plays the role of the character Poe Dameron in the upcoming movie and its unclear what the faction will be called in the movie, after the events of the 1983 movie from the franchise.
Towards the end of the video, there is a scene where Tom Cruise plays with a red lightsaber. The scene has been made by editing footage from the movie called “The Color of Money,” which was also released in the year 1986. The movie was about a talented Pool player who is taught to hustle money while playing the game.
“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” continues to tell the story after the events of the 1983 movie. The recently released movies from the franchise are prequel movies to the original trilogy. Fans of the franchise are eagerly waiting to see the upcoming movie, which will be released in December 2015.
