Retailers are preparing to launch “Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens” merchandise on Friday, three months prior to the movie’s release in December. The enthusiasm among the Star Wars fans have led to speculations that toy sales may even cross the records set by “Frozen”.

“I know there are a lot of fans heading out to those openings,” AAP quoted Chris Brennan as saying. Brennan is the director of Star Walking Inc., the longest-running fan club of "Star Wars" movies in the world. “They’ll be there, in their droves as always, ready to snap up the latest figures as they come out.”

Australians could get an idea of what will be on offer at the global “unboxing” event livestreamed on YouTube only a few hours before fans get to lay their hands on the much awaited merchandise. Australian fans of Star Wars who cannot wait until Friday will witness a marathon of unveils across the world starting at 7:45 a.m. Anthony Carboni and Star Wars social media guru Andi Gutierrez will be anchoring the event.

Brenna has said that the big surprise element of the launch has been ruined by few stores that started selling the top secret merchandise ahead of its official launch. AAP reported that eBay has already started selling some of the new Star Wars figurines for US$125 (AU$178).

“The big global unboxing might be a bit of a fizzer because the hardcore fans have already been out on the hunt and found a lot of stuff already,” Brennan said. Fans are also the most enthusiastic about action figures of the new characters Fin, Rey and the villain Kylo Ren.

Analysts are anticipating that Disney is about to make another massive profit through sales of merchandise after “Frozen”.
