The second (codenamed LMNO) in the three-game deal with Steven Spielberg and Electronic Arts (EA) has been canceled. This despite the good performance of the first game Boom Blox.

Many were puzzled why the deal came off. It came as a a surprise since the first game Boom Blox sold well with 60,000 copies during its first month of availability in the United States. Electronic Arts had said that the game met internal expectations, further revealing that Boom Blox sold over 450,000 copies during their first fiscal quarter and continues to sell well.

In the 8-4 podcast, Jake Kazdal, a former EA developer said: "I don't know exactly what was the thing that made it fall apart. I'm sure anybody you ask is gonna tell you something a little bit different, but it didn't end up ever taking off."

"There was some rival game stuff that may or may not have come out of EA that was basically the same thing minus some of the stuff we were doing. There was just a lot of politics."

Certain analyst say that EA has expected Boom Blox to sell more. While Electronic Arts has confirmed the cancellation of the second game but is yet to make an annoucement about the third game in Spielberg's deal with EA. However, EA said that it "maintains its relationship with Steven Spielberg".
