The crowd was reverberating the chant “We want Sting!” in the stadium after Triple H yet again delivered his monologue challenge to the former WCW heavyweight champion. The World Wrestling Entertainment’s, or WWE, Chief Operating Officer was adamant that he face Sting during the upcoming par-per-view match Fastlane in two weeks’ time and he got an answer.

“I am a man and I am calling you at Fastlane to stand in this ring face to face with me and I will look you dead in your eye and I will explain to you why you were right to stay away for 14 years. And if you agree to never show your face here again and I will let you leave Fastlane with your dignity intact,” Triple H said during a segment in Monday Night Raw.

After Triple H’s monologue, the arena went dark and what followed was a string of graphical images flashing in the huge display. True to form, the Sting montage included cryptic and dark images and his trademark raven. Then, the words “Triple H, I accept” appeared and a double for Sting starting Triple H who fell on his knees. The sequence was all the fans needed to get the confirmation that the WWE has lined up a Sting vs. Triple H match for Fastlane, even if the outfit used a body double to get the message across.

The confirmation is a sort of victory for Triple H, who is laso known as Paul Levesque in real life. Wrestling sites have been speculating that Triple H and Vince McMahon had been at odds over the former’s insistence to get first crack at Sting. The sure-fire Hall of Famer made his debut last year at the Survivor Series and disrupted the best laid plans of Triple H by delivering his brutal patented drop dead scorpion move to ensure the win for Dolph Ziggler.

Sting who is known for his face paint and all-black attire is entering the twilight of his career. Known as Steve Borden in real life, Sting’s arrival at the WWE had long been hinted by the company after including him in their WWE 2k15 game roster, arranging his appearance at Comic Con and culminating in his debut at Survivor Series. His first major fight in Fastlane will determine going forward if McMahon is still keen on staging the rumoured retirement match between Sting and The Undertaker.
