'Suicide Squad': Captain Boomerang's Costume 'Is Going To Be Dope,' Says Jai Courtney
Jai Courtney has been talking about his involvement in the David Ayer-directed film “Suicide Squad.” Little is known regarding his Captain Boomerang role and just how much screen time is given to the character. However, it seems that production for the film is moving fast as the actor recently revealed that he’s seen his costume for Captain Boomerang.
Jai Courtney already knows what Captain Boomerang will look like in terms of the character’s costume in “Suicide Squad.” The actor tells MTV’s Josh Horowitz that he has seen “elements” of the costume, including its artwork. Courtney didn’t reveal exact details but says the costume “is going to be dope.”
According to Comicbookmovie, Captain Boomerang’s traditional costume in the original “Suicide Squad” comic book is somewhat difficult to interpret or “transition” to in a live-action movie. So it remains a surprise just how movie director David Ayer and Warner Bros. plan to recreate the character’s look in the movie adaptation.
Whether Captain Boomerang and the other characters will be given their tactical, military suits as a nod to the comics remains uncertain at this point. However, Jai Courtney also teased the studio’s massive plans for the film during the MTV interview, when he said "Suicide Squad" "won’t be like a comic book movie we've seen before."
For his part, the Australian Jai Courtney also revealed to Access Hollywood that he’s also been doing a lot of preparation for his role as Captain Boomerang in “Suicide Squad.” He has reportedly been in rigorous workouts and in training along with the other casts in the film. The actor also revealed that a meeting will take place sometime this week for all the casts to “converge and get down.”
Having been given the role of Captain Boomerang reportedly doesn't come with its stiff competition from other casts in the film. Costume talks aside, Jai Courtney said there would also be competition among his co-stars in “Suicide Squad.” The competition would reportedly be about helping each other bring out the best in one another, whenever David Ayer demands of it. Courtney, who also stars in the upcoming “Divergent” sequel “Insurgent,” told Access Hollywood that the director demands a “certain amount of talent and dedication” from his actors. There’s reportedly bound to be a healthy competition considering the talented casts in “Suicide Squad,” which includes Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (The Joker), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) and Cara Delevingne (Enchantress).
