Super Smash Bros. 3 Confirms Three New Characters Plus Trailer and a Rayman Trophy Spotted
After Pac-Man joined the roster of characters for "Super Smash Bros." as its 33rd playable, three more characters have been confirmed to join the bunch.
During the live broadcast over at YouTube, Nintendo went all generous and announced not one, but three new additions, pushing the count to 36 playable characters for Super Smash Bros., coming to the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS before the year ends.
According to Kotaku, the three new characters are Captain Falcon in his first time as a confirmed character to the series, as well as Robin and Lucina from "Fire Emblem Awakening."
The latter game has been a big hit in the West, according to Metro, which is potentially why it's also debuting with "Super Smash Bros."
Rayman Does a Cameo in 'Super Smash Bros.'
Cameo may be the perfect word to describe the way that Rayman will get to be in the upcoming "Super Smash Bros." title.
Revealed as a post via Miiverse, IGN reports that a Rayman image has been teased featuring Rayman. But instead of joining the roster of characters, he will be part of the game as a trophy.
"In order to make Rayman's trophy, we asked Ubisoft to share their references," he wrote. "We were expecting to receive 2D drawing references for Rayman, but to our surprise, they sent us data of a brand new 3D model that they rendered for this game!! And that was how this trophy was created. It takes a lot of work creating each model, so it's wonderful that the creators contributed their own efforts!" creator Masahiro Sakurai in the post accompanying the image.
With the Rayman trophy now revealed, fans have become extra hopeful that the lovable character will also be playable for "Super Smash Bros." though his name did not make the cut with the earlier announcement.
Some of the other characters joining come from a number of Nintendo games, including Mario, Luigi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Zelda, Wii Fit Trainer, Sonic, Yoshi and even a couple of Pokemons including Pikachu, Charizard and Greninja.
"Super Smash Bros." is one of those interesting fighting games that pits characters from different worlds and games, much like another upcoming game that has only been announced for a Japanese release, titled "J-Stars Victory Vs," pitting different stars from manga published by Shonen Jump for its 45th anniversary.
