‘Supergirl' episode 2 spoilers: Kara faces a new Kryptonian enemy
Kara Danvers’ powers will be put to the test in episode 2 of “Supergirl.” Kara, played by former “Glee” star Melissa Benoist, will have to battle a new enemy who has escaped from a Kryptionian prison. Meanwhile, Cat Grant, played by Calista Flockhart, will do everything in her power to get an exclusive interview with the superhero.
A synopsis for “Supergirl” provided by Carter Matt revealed who Kara will have to defeat in order to keep the safety of National City. Supergirl will come face-to-face with an inmate from Fort Rozz. Kara will have to convince herself that she can handle the enemy in order to protect the people of National City. It’s time she cast her and the media's doubts about her capabilities aside.
On the other hand, Kara’s boss Cat is determined to get her company involved with the media frenzy caused by Supergirl. She wants to be on top of the coverage about the new superhero's latest conquests. So she forces photographer James Olsen, played by Mehcad Brooks, to use his connection to Superman, Kara’s cousin, to land her an exclusive interview with Supergirl.
Apparently, Kara is doing a wonderful job of disguising herself when at work since Cat still has no idea that the famous Supergirl and her employee are the same person. So far as revealed in the first episode, only Kara’s foster sister Alex Danvers, played by Chyler Leigh, and her officemates Winslow “Winn” Schott, played by Jeremy Jordan and James Olsen know about Supergirl’s real identity.
The second episode of the new CBS show will also feature more scenes of Kara’s aunt Astra, played by Laura Benanti, who is revealed in the first episode to be main villain. Executive producer for “Supergirl” Andrew Kreisberg told the Hollywood Reporter that they’ve decided to make Astra the villain to put a twist to the DC comic book story.
“For us, we love when you have the hero and villain being linked, and what you can do to make what's happening between them personal. Nothing is more personal than family, but to then go one step further and have the villain be an exact replica of her mother is going to be really cool,” Kreisberg said.
