'Supernatural' Season 9 Spoilers: Angel Gabriel or The Trickster to Return? Executive Producer Robert Singer Tease About Reintroducing Killed Off Angels
"Supernatural" fans may still be in shock with the unexpected death of Kevin Tran (Osric Chau) but the latest reports claim familiar faces will continue to return in Season 9 of the CW TV series. Another character rumoured to come back is the fan-favorite Trickster or also known as the angel Gabriel (Richard Speight Jr).
"I know there are angels that we really like that we killed off... [and] yes, I think we will reintroduce some angels," teased executive producer Robert Singer in the Give Me My Remote TV interview. However, the Enstars entertainment Web site reports "Supernatural" writer Robbie Thompson clarified the accidental IMDB listing of the character Gabriel in an upcoming episode.
"(De)Bunked / Possible Spoiler: the IMDB thing y'all tweeted me about? It's a typo #sorry #supernatural," posted Mr Thompson on his Twitter account @rthompson1138. It appears the character listing was supposed to be Gadreel instead of Gabriel.
In the meantime, the other "Supernatural" character making a comeback in Season 9 is the eccentric hunter Garth Fitzgerald. Actor DJ Qualls, who portrays the character, even confirmed via Twitter about his return in the TV series after a long hiatus.
"Thanks for the kind words about my little stint on Five-0," said Qualls to his followers. "Up next Legit season 2 and yep, I'll confirm it, Supernatural season 9," wrote the actor on his Twitter account @TheOnlyDJQualls. The Entertainment Weekly spoiler report assures that Garth's absence from the series will be explained in the episode that he will return in.
Additionally, the "Ghostfacers" are reported to return in "Supernatural" Season 9 with actors Travis Wester and A.J. Buckley reprising their characters Harry Spangler and Ed Zeddmore, respectively. The CW TV series managed to bring back characters since the premiere episode including the deceased Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver), Death (Julian Richings), red-haired hunter Charlie Bradbury (Felicia Day) and Sheriff Jody Mills (Kim Rhodes).
"Supernatural" Season 9 will return in January 14, 2014 with Episode 10 titled "Road Trip." The official episode synopsis for "Road Trip" in the Examiner report reads: "In order to rescue Sam, Dean makes a tough decision to release Crowley if he helps remove Gadreel from Sam's body. Gadreel warns Castiel about Metatron and his plans for Heaven."
"Supernatural" Season 9 airs Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. ET on the CW network.
