Survey: 78% of Hotel Guests Prefer Coffee Over Morning Sex with Spouse
Coffee, tea or me? This pick-up line appears to have a popular answer based on a survey of 7,455 coffee drinkers in six countries.
And the winner is: coffee. The survey by Le Meridien Hotels and Resorts found that 78 per cent of the respondents would prefer to have morning coffee than have sex with their spouse.
Rather than give up their morning caffeine habit, the respondents would prefer not to drink alcohol, have fun with their partners in bed or open their social media accounts.
However, between the three other choices, if they could combine two activities, the respondents picked having coffee and browsing their news feeds on Facebook, Twitter and other social media than the two other choices.
The survey was conducted in the U.S., Dubai, China, France, Germany and India as part of the hotel's plan to widen the choice of coffee for its guests.
It led Le Meridien to roll out three new coffee beverages for fall in its Latitude Bar menu. These are Onda al Cioccolato, Latte Macchiato and Marocchino Caido, which are all chocolate-infused concoctions.
The hotel would also have a new Master Barista Programme wherein they will have a coffee expert at each of their properties by the end of 2013 to put their theory that coffee reigns supreme over other life's addictions to the test.
In a further confirmation of the growing number of coffee addicts, the survey found that given a choice of posting the image of a beverage on their social media accounts, 53 per cent picked coffee.
