TaiG Jailbreak 1.0.2 for iOS 8.1.2 is Out but Limited to Windows Users For Now
Jailbreak fans who quickly jumped into the iOS 8.1.2 released by Apple this week can unlock their iPhones and iPads anew as TaiG made available version 1.0.2 of its jailbreaking tool that appears to work on devices running iOS 8.xx.
As it turned out, the 8.1.2 update only packed minor bug fixes and left a security hole big enough for TaiG to merely patch its jailbreak - the result is version 1.0.2 that even won the seal of approval from prominent hackers.
Easy install
Per Redmond Pie, Taig 1.0.2 will work smoothly on the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, the 2015 iPads - the iPad Air 2 and Mini 3 - and all of the iOS devices that can accommodate iOS 8.1.2. That includes the ageing iPhone 4S.
Upgrading is a breeze and Redmond Pie is generous enough to share its tutorial on the subject, which is viewable here.
The blog site also mentioned that the likes of iH8Sn0w and i0n1c have tweeted support for the latest TaiG effort that should convince the jailbreak community that the jailbreak is as solid as works that came from Pangu and Team Evad3rs.
Noteworthy too that TaiG natively integrates Cydia build 1.1.16 with its unlocking tool as well as some form of support utilities that jailbreak fans may find useful.
Windows only
There is one major catch, however, as Mac is yet to be supported by TaiG 1.0.2 but it shouldn't be an issue for most of the Apple fans, who love jailbreaking as well, to access the jailbreak on a PC. It is understood though that TaiG will soon issue a version that fits with the Mac platform.
Proceed with caution
Now while jailbreaking is exciting, thanks to the loads of tweaks and modification possibilities stuffed with the procedure, it is laced with considerable risks so users need to be very careful.
Backing up of data on the device prior to the jailbreak process is a must, BGR said, adding that users must be aware too that their iPhones and iPads will become more vulnerable to hack attacks.
It helps too that jailbreak fans research and read materials on the matter to mitigate the likelihood of serious issues cropping up, the tech site added.
And as constantly advised by jailbreak experts, fans need to stay away from future iOS 8 updates from Apple as the patches will surely wipe out their devices' unlock status then shut them out from the jailbreak universe.
