Telstra to offer Motorola Xoom on May 24

Telstra (ASX: TLS) will be the first telco in Australia to offer the Motorola Xoom tablet, the first device worldwide to run the designed-for-tablets Android 3.0 OS. Motorola and Telstra have announced today the Motorola XOOM will be available on Telstra from 24 May for $840 RRP.
Motorola XOOM is the first device to run on the Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) platform. It delivers fast performance with its 1GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of RAM. The tablet showcases the innovations of the Honeycomb user experience – including an interactive, customizable homescreen with moveable widgets, notifications and tabbed browsing – on a 10.1-inch 1280x800 widescreen HD display, enabling video content that’s richer and clearer than ever before. Support for HDMI enables viewing of videos and movies on larger screens, such as HD televisions. A 5MP rear-facing camera captures HD video, and a 2MP front-facing camera enables clear video chats using Google Talk.
The latest Google Mobile services include Google Maps 5.0 with 3D interaction and access to over 150,000 apps from Android Market™. Motorola XOOM also supports a beta version of Adobe Flash Player 10.2 downloadable from Android Market, enabling the delivery of rich Flash-based Web content including videos, casual games and rich Internet applications.

Meanwhile, the Motorola ATRIX, a next generation Android-powered smartphone that allows customers to carry the power of mobile computing in their pocket, will be available from 7 June 2011, exclusively on Telstra’s Next G Network.
Motorola ATRIX is one of the world’s first smartphones to feature a next-generation dual-core processor with each core running at 1 GHz, delivering up to 2GHz of processing power, as well as 1GB RAM -- making applications run faster, multitasking easier and web browsing effortless. Motorola ATRIX features the world’s first qHD display for a smartphone meaning whether customers are playing games, watching movies or browsing the web, it’s all played out in clarity.
Biometric fingerprint recognition provides additional security at the customer’s convenience, whilst HD video capture and two-way video calling empower customers to shoot and share content quickly.
