The latest Samsung flagship smartphone has been all over the Internet since its launch. As the hype subsides and the dust settles, there are things that you need to know before you buy Samsung Galaxy S5.

Big Screen

Samsung Galaxy S5's screen is bigger with higher resolution than its predecessor and iPhone 5s. The bigger screen can be a huge factor to the market using the smartphone as a computing device.

Heart Rate Monitor

With the new heart rate monitor, Samsung tries to make its flagship to be a better exercise companion. Generally, a user needs to put his finger in the sensor located below the phone's camera. After 5 to 10 seconds, the heart rate can be measured. With a preinstalled app on Samsung Galaxy S5 called S Health 3.0, users can keep track of their heart rate.

Overall Look

Samsung Galaxy S5 is a bit similar to Galaxy S4 - only it is a little bigger because of its larger display. It is still made of premium plastic like its predecessors but it is dust-proof and water-resistant. Take note that it is water-resistant and not waterproof.

Samsung Galaxy S5 checks in at 142 mm x 72.5 mm x 8.1 mm and 145 grams, which is 15 grams more than Galaxy S4. Judging Samsung Galaxy S5's and Galaxy S4's front, the two are very much alike. But the back of Galaxy S5 comes with a dotted design, which adds to the grip.

What's Under the Hood?

One thing is for sure - it is very powerful. Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with a quad-core Qualcomm 2.5 GHz processor, which means the performance will be all smooth and snappy. Adding to the powerhouse is the 2 GB RAM of Galaxy S5, which will fuel Android KitKat OS.

Samsung Galaxy S5 sports the latest version of Android OS, which means that you are up-to-date in terms of Google's mobile operating system. Apart from improved design, Android 4.4 KitKat delivers smoother performance.
