Tinder has yet to keep list of matches and its users in Antarctica, but there is possibility that the first ever hook up it has was between two scientists conducting separate researches in the continent.

An American scientist, who refused to be identified for fear that his company might cut his internet budget, told NYMAG.com that Antarctica's McMurdo Station was cold and lonely that he decided to log on to Tinder.

It was just for fun and curiosity if there can also be anyone looking matches across the cold continent. Upon setting a wider location radius, he found another researcher working in an area which was a 45-minute helicopter ride from where he was conducting his own research.

"She was actually in her tent in the Dry Valleys when we matched. She was quite literally camping in Antarctica, went on Tinder, and found me. It's mind-blowing." the scientist told NYMAG.com

He said that he had not set his expectations high when he logged on to Tinder.

"I was really excited for the silliness of Tinder down here. But there are 200 fewer scientists than there should be right now because of the shutdown. How's that for an unintended consequence?"

The two scientists met up a few weeks after they matched through Tinder. The scientists did not give details about their meeting, but he said that he was looking forward for the time that they can hang out with each other.

"I have yet to become the first Tinder hookup in Antarctic history. But she is actually coming back, and we may overlap. There's still hope."

While this can be good news to those who use Tinder to hook up with prospective dates, the security firm IncludeSec exposed that Tinder's app had a major security flaw.

Tinder can actually allow hackers to determine the exact location of users just by using a simple high school mathematical equation.

Tinder had admitted the flaw in a statement.

"Include Security identified a technical exploit that theoretically could have led to the calculation of a user's last known location. Shortly after being contacted, Tinder implemented specific measures to enhance location security and further obscure location data. We did not respond to further inquiries about the specific security remedies and enhancements taken as we typically do not share the specifics of Tinder's security measures. We are not aware of anyone else attempting to use this technique. Our users' privacy and security continue to be our highest priority," Tinder said in a statement.
