A number of Mac users express noticing the latest MacBook systems to go through drastic changes in terms of graphics. There are instances performance would drop especially when playing games requiring more processing power and memory. Fortunately, there are several tricks to avoid these drops. These tips and tricks may also be useful for the upcoming MacBook Pro 2013 release.

Often, launching the game initially on laptop devices may go smoothly but after some time there can be problems in the graphics. It can drop to extremely low frame rate and will hinder the user from playing properly. When the device experiences lags like this, it usually means the graphics is being overworked. The device is having a hard time computing to allow smooth gaming experience. This leads to an exhausted graphic card.
However, for the case of MacBooks it can be different. The graphics lag not because the card is taxed. Rather, it is not just performing the right computations to allow graphics to flow as expected. There are two graphics card that come with Apple's 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro systems: Intel HD 4000 GPU for standard tasks and a discrete Nvidia Geforce GT 650M for graphic intensive requirements.

The problem lies more on switching between the two systems. Performance drop occurs when the laptop changes from low graphics power to high graphics then back. According the reports, it may be because of hardware since the problem occurs in both OS X and games operating in Windows.
Fortunately, a few tweaks or a minor reset in the system management control of the device should do the trick. Apple has outlined the following procedures:

1. Turn off the computer.
2. Plug in MagSafe power adapter to a power supply.
3. Connect the adapter to the Mac if not yet connected.
4. Press Shift-Control-Option on the built-in keyboard. Press the keys together with the power button.
5. Release the keys altogether including power button.
6. Turn on the computer once more.

The system should be back up and running again. People should be able to work with graphic intensive application without any trouble.
