Hollywood actor Tom Cruise will see a familiar face on his side with his current divorce case.

Clearly, the tables have turned on Tom Cruise. Katie Holmes gave Tom the shock of his life with the divorce news just like when he surprised Nicole Kidman with their split. On Oprah Winfrey's talk show in May 2001, Kidman eventually broke down as she recalled that the situation for her was a nightmare. "I think that divorce is hard for anyone. It's a nightmare, it just is, and you can pretend you're fine," she said.

"And days you're great and days you're not great," the actress further added. A divorce petition was filed by Tom Cruise citing irreconcilable differences and Kidman said that she was stunned. She even begged Cruise to stay after telling her that he does not want to be married to her anymore. Kidman said that she also asked him to seek marriage counseling so that they can save their relationship. However, according to the actress, Cruise refused and finally left her for good.

According to Tom Cruise's publicist, the filing for divorce by Katie Holmes in New York made the actor deeply saddened. Meanwhile, another source also told ABC News that the decision of Katie Holmes came as a big and complete surprise to the "Rock of Ages" star.

A couple of legal analysts claimed that Holmes' move on filing a divorce in New York City may actually give her an advantage of gaining sole custody for their 6-year old daughter Suri.

The source, who claimed that Wassner will take on Cruise's divorce case, affirmed that Cruise's approach will only focus on what the best interests are with their daughter when asked if the actor would move the divorce case to California.

In the May issue of Playboy magazine, Tom Cruise shared that he is just happy ever since he met Katie Holmes. This really showed how he adoringly spoke about Katie Holmes throughout their relationship.

The surprising divorce news, given by the woman whom he fondly speaks of, may actually give the actor a hard time on recovering even though Cruise is believed to have the ability to bounce back from an ordeal life especially now that their daughter will be involved in the child custody battle.
