Top 25 Most in demand Words in App Stores
Want to have a best- selling app? A surefire way to get a million hits is to name your app right. According to a Dutch analytics company Distimo there is a science behind the names of hit apps.
Distimo has taken a look at the most commonly used keywords of successful apps in the Apple, BlackBerry and Android app stores and compiled the top 25 terms you need for your digital app hit.
Application names should be unique to drive search engines to your site or just use the popular keywords in the app stores. Words like wallpaper, live, news, theme, mobile, clock, travel, sexy and world are used in more than 1% of all application names in the different app stores.
The top 25 terms to consider are in order: wallpaper, live, guide, news, theme, ebook, clock, travel, app, sexy, game, world, dictionary, map, calculator, radio, love, girls, widget, English, hot, puzzle, football, pocket, city.
Distimo noted that the word 'Angry' occurred more than 500 times and have been in an upswing since the release of Angry Birds. The term 'Bird' quadrupled in use since those Angry Birds have been flinging themselves at pigs. The word 'Angry' increased from 14 to 303 times.
Of course naming your app with the top 25 terms in the list doesn't necessarily mean you'll have a runaway hit. You can focus on having an app that is good and useful instead of brainstorming ways to name your app 'angry wallpapers live guide news'.
