It's almost certain that Samsung will sell a scaled-down version of its new flagship, the Galaxy S4, and leaked specs of the Galaxy S4 Mini seem pointing to functions and features that are worth every penny.

The S4 Mini predecessor, the Galaxy S3 Mini, generally missed the mark set by Samsung, according to experts, prompting the tech giant to correct the perceived mistakes that spelled a not-too-hot reception for the smaller and less powerful Galaxy S3.

The features listed below, Samsung hopes, will attract more buys this time that will make the S4 Mini a true support handset for the Galaxy S4 - able to scoop up Android buyers unwilling to pay premium price.

Irresistible price tags

No definite price mark is attached at the moment with the S4 Mini but as a mid-range smartphone it is expected to offer an attractive alternative for price-sensitive gadget consumers.

The S3 Mini was sporadically picked up by telcos around the world, making the handset more accessible with offers of sizeable subsidies. Unlocked, the smartphone was being sold between $300 and $400, which are the same price levels that the S4 Mini is expected to embrace. Note too that the budget iPhone version will likely sell with the same average price, giving more reasons for Samsung to price the S4 Mini reasonably.

Power-packed hardware flavours

Mid-range as it is, Samsung is making sure that the S4 Mini will flex just the right mix of hardware muscles. Persistent blog reports pointed to a quad-core processor that will give life to the new phone with a top speed of 1.6GHz. It will also sport a 4.3-inch display screen on Super AMOLED qHD display with 256ppi.

The device, as leaked images showed, is a miniature S4 that mimics too its other attributes - full connectivity that includes LTE with a bonus function of dual-SIM capability in selected markets. In short, the S4 Mini is more than a budget phone - it is a small package that is bestowed with high-end features.

The best that TouchWiz offers

The S3 Mini introduced Direct Call, Pop Up Play and S Voice last year to buyers who skipped on the S4 and Samsung will do the same with the S4 Mini and more. We saw the Galaxy S4 introducing new exciting smartphone menus like gesture control and other Smart features.

All these, Samsung said, will be extended to other Galaxy smartphones provided they have the hardware chops. The S4 Mini, most definitely, is a fit for all these new Samsung features to expect the handset to perform in almost the same level as that of its bigger sibling, software-wise of course.

It will be JellyBean 4.2 for the S4 Mini and as mentioned above, Samsung would not want the mistakes of the S3 Mini to revisit its younger brother.
