Top 5 Android and iOS Games of the Week: The Sims FreePlay, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, The Walking Dead: The Game
Have fun during the weekend with these five new app additions for Android and iOS devices.
Whether you want to build homes with The Sims or create your own Springfield as Homer, or battle against Walkers, there's an app waiting for you. Some of them are free, so make sure to grab that while you can.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out
Working on the premise where Homer had somehow wiped out Springfield, it is up to you to rebuild it from there. As the name implies, you have to tap the building game and create your own version of Springfield.
A note from developer Electronic Arts, "Because of its many features, we recommend connecting to WiFi the first time you launch this game. Please be patient while it loads (we promise it's worth the wait)."
Just like SimCity needed some form of Internet connection, apparently, this project from EA also does. But at least it only requires the one-time wait, and based on its popularity on the App Store as well as the fact that it's free, it is definitely worth the wait.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out has also received a 4.3.1 update where the new features include new buildings, quests, and a Level 31.
You can also visit your friends' Springfields, play pranks, and collect cash, while also enjoying exclusive animated scenes from the long-running cartoon.
The Walking Dead
Hailing a lot of positive comments from users and publications that tout it as one of the must-play games of the season with great narrative and a suspense that really put you on edge, The Walking Dead: 400 Days really lets you experience all the exciting and nauseating parts of being part of the zombie survival.
The Walking Dead: The Game from Telltale Games hinged on the events that happened in the first season as it tells of the stories of the five who have survived.
The experience of the game has been tailored to follow the consequences and actions that you make--in other words, what you do in the game has a very profound setback and effect on your game, keeping in mind that you are against time because of all that's happening around you.
Monsters University
Another film to hit an Android and iOS game franchise is Monsters University. This paid app features two games, the first being Catch Archie, where you'll be chasing around the naughty scare pig in 30 stages.
In each stage, you have to tire him out to win while at the same time dodging obstacles and getting the coins. It has a similar flavor to the Crash Bandicoot series.
The second game is the Toxicity Challenge, where you'll be competing in the first scare game of the year. You'll be on the clock as you run through the sewers while dodging glow urchins that will slow you down. Again, you'll be facing these obstacles in 30 stages.
If you feel that those two main games would become quite boring in the long run, you have the added challenge of playing as any of the three monsters, Sulley, Mike, and Squishy. According to the Google Play Store, each level up will unlock power-us and there will be Scare Cards that you can collect.
It is also said that the Scare Games will have free updates, including new characters and games as you progress.
The Sims FreePlay
Another recent addition to the iOS App Store and coming from Electronic Arts again is The Sims FreePlay. Take the fun experiencing of building worlds in The Sims 3 to iOS devices.
With this game, you can customise up to 31 Sims as well as decorate homes, control the relationships between your Sims, care for pets, and basically see that their goals in life are met.
As a similar game to SimCity, the app requires you to connect to the Internet at all times when playing the game.
What you can enjoy with this 3.7.0 version is that you can now send out your Sim into other towns. You can check out your friends' towns and form new friendships with other players in The Sims FreePlay.
Scribblenauts Remix
Hailed as a highly recommended brilliant puzzle game by many critics, Scribblenauts Remix gives you a puzzle game that paints the canvas of the game with your imagination.
You have to help Maxwell get the Starite by creating objects, bringing it to life, and using that as a weapon to overcome the challenges that the game brings.
If you're easily bored with a game and want one that does not have a very predictable outcome, this is a good choice, because you never know what you could summon to life and how it can affect the gaming experience.
