Electronics are considered as the best gifts according to a recent survey and not only that, customers are now more specific with the kind of electronics that they want to receive this holiday season.

The Retrevo Pulse Survey released the survey results when they asked shoppers on what kind of Black Friday deals they would be looking for. The survey results showed that 32% prefer to look for bargains on tablet computers, 25% prefer to look for bargains on HDTVs, 24% chose laptops, and 19% would look for deals on smartphones.

In terms of gifts that they want to receive this holiday season, most of the survey participants said that they prefer to receive tablet computers. There is also a preference in terms of the kind of tablet they want because Apple's iPad and Amazon Kindle Fire are tied in the first place having 10% each. Smartphone takes the second spot (9%), HDTV (8%), Laptop (6%), Digital camera (6%), and Amazon eReader (4%). Retrevo mentioned a possible explanation on why Amazon Kindle Fire is tied up with Apple's iPad in terms of tablets stating that "Conditions seem right for the Amazon Fire to become a hot item this year. We don't know if families are tired of fighting over the iPad, or the new $199 Kindle Fire looks irresistible, but it appears that a large number of existing tablet owners are planning on buying another tablet this holiday season."

In terms of specific gifts depending on age, sex, and income, the survey also showed the following results:

Best Gadgets for Women: Apple's iPad, Amazon's Kindle Fire, and digital cameras are the most appreciated gift for this holiday season. A 3DTV is not really a popular option for women.

Best Gadgets for Men: Amazon's Kindle Fire scored slightly higher for men as compared to Apple's iPad. On the other hand, HDTV (including 3DTV) would be an ideal gift selection for men.

Best Gadgets for 25 Years old and Below: Laptops (especially MacBook Air) and iPhone 4S would be the ideal gift for this age group. Tablets did not score favorably for this age group.

In summary, gadgets are very popular gifts this holiday season regardless of age, gender, and economic status. For the past years, electronics have been "strong performers" during this season and based on the survey results, this trend would continue for this coming holiday season. The result of the Retrevo Pulse Report was done exclusively for Retrevo through an independent panel with a sample size of 1,000 correspondents.
