The Toshiba Tablet: Practical and Convenient
The iPad has been dominating the tablet market for some time now and any new tablet released would have to go up against the Apple giant. The new Toshiba AT 100 better known as the Toshiba Tablet and the Thrive in the US proves that there are other tablets just as good as Apple's iPad.
The AT 100 is powered by a 1Ghz Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core CPU, 1 Gb of RAM and has 16 Gb of onboard storage. The display is a stunning 10.1 inches with 1,200 X 800 resolution. It seems par for the course for any Android Honeycomb tablet but the Toshiba Tablet stands out with other unique and smartly designed features.
The Toshiba Tablet may not be the flashiest tablet out there but its utilitarian aesthetic is a perfect fit for its more practicality driven features. It is portable even at 771 grams and is 15 mm thick, not really the thinnest tablet around but it would do for users. You can personalize the Tablet with its interchangeable rubberized back cover that Toshiba sells for $29.95. This handy feature also allows users to swap out the battery. Battery life has long been a contention for tablet users, with the Toshiba Tablet you can now switch batteries if your old one runs out of juice or you can carry two batteries if you're a frequent traveler. Toshiba sells additional 6 cell batteries for 479.95. Very handy, indeed.
The Toshiba Tablet also has a full size SD card reader for more storage and a full-sized HDMI port as well as USB ports and audio jacks. There's a docking port for the Toshiba tablet dock. The AT 100 has the Android 3.0 installed but it can be upgraded to a 3.1 version via the Toshiba Service Station App.
Other features include rear and front cameras with 5 mega pixels and 2 mega pixels respectively. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatibility, stereo speakers and microphones. Users who want their tablets to perform like a desktop could attach keyboards and mice via the USB 2.0 port or Bluetooth or you could buy the $89.95 Multi Dock for more connectivity options.
The AT 100 may not be the coolest tablet out on the market but for only $579 it has enough features for entry- level users. This Tablet is perfect for users who want practicality versus design appeal.
