Touchscreen Macbook Air Retina Release Roundup: Thinner and Smaller Ultrabooks Coming
Apple's next big date to mark is October 16. The company's promotional tag line "It's been way too long" has generated enough buzz with some expecting the tech giant to unveil its next set of Macbook Air Retinas. According to reports, Apple may pursue a thinner and smaller line of ultrabooks but some analysts remain unconvinced. What has Apple got in store with its upcoming event?
Reports about Apple's adoption of the Retina technology in its MacBook Air line including a new 12-inch version surfaced one year ago. According to forecasts, Apple will release a 12-inch notebook featuring a fanless design and high resolution display. At that time, NPD DisplaySearch claimed that the Apple was considering 2304 x 1440 panels for its 2014 release according to The Motley Fool. This means a pixel density of 226ppi - comparable with the present Retina system.
Digitimes also reported about a leak saying that an iPad Pro version that can operate with both iOS and OS X is currently under testing. The report also supports a Retina MacBook Air featuring a touchscreen display. Digitimes also reported that Quanta has been working on the Retina MacBook Air production already. It may not be for immediate launch this holiday season as many expected. Apple and its suppliers have been encountering issues on how to raise yield rates to support the targeted MacBook Air specs.
Nonetheless, people still believe that Apple can announce the device this October 16 because Steve Jobs announced the Macbook Air design last October 2010. Apple seems to have an affinity for tradition when announcing devices. The Motley Fool remains convinced that people should not expect it soon because Apple has been eyeing Intel's Broadwell-Y Core-M chips. Intel said that the "broader OEM availability" is not possible until early 2015. Unless Apple sees another chip fit for its 12-inch MacBook Air then released will inevitably be delayed. People still have something to watch out for only longer.
