Lions Gate released the trailer of "Absolutely Anything" on May 3. The science fiction comedy stars Simon Pegg in the main role and features the late Robin Williams as the voice of Pegg's dog. (Watch the trailer below.)

According to Screen Crush, Simon Pegg plays Neil Clarke, an unhappy school teacher, who is given the ability to grant himself anything he wants. He gets this power from a group of aliens who watch him from space. However Clarke doesn't realise that he is supposed to use this gift of unlimited capabilities for good, to keep his planet alive.

The trailer shows Clarke struggle to deal with these new found powers and the events that subsequently arise. The school teacher uses his abilities to make his dog talk, his canine's poop clean itself and also give himself a better body.

Writer Terry Jones, who co-wrote "Absolutely Anything" with Gavin Scott, told Empire Online that the inspiration for the movie came from the H.G. Wells story "The Man Who Could Work Miracles." Wells' story is about George McWhirter Fortheringay, a man who suddenly gets the ability to grant miracles while drinking with friends in a pub.

However, after his grandest miracle throws the entire planet into complete chaos, he uses his final miracles to remove his super natural ability and restore time back to the point when he first began discussing miracles with his friends in the pub. Fortheringay also makes sure that he has no recollection of the events ever taking place.

Apart from Pegg and Robin Williams, the flick also stars Kate Beckinsale, Eddie Izzard and Rob Riggle. The comedy also stars the Monty Python team Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, John Cleese, Michael Palin and Terry Jones as the extraterrestrials who decide to put the fate of humanity on the hands of one random man.

According to The Celebrity Cafe, there were rumors Robin Williams had not finish his work on the movie and may have been needed to be replaced. But it looks as though his part was either cut down or adjusted to keep the actor's performance in tact.

"Absolutely Anything" is directed by Terry Jones and is set to hit theaters in the U.K. on August 14.
