'Star Trek 3' To Focus On 'Spirit Of The TV Show,' Reveals Cast Member And Writer Simon Pegg
Simon Pegg will be playing the dual role of being the cast member and the writer of “Star Trek 3.” According to a new report, the actor spoke about how he came to be one of the writers of the upcoming movie and how the movie will take the franchise forward “with the spirit of the TV show.”
The role Scotty, the chief of engineering aboard the USS Enterprise, is played by Simon Pegg. According to a report by ComicBookResources, the actor spoke about the upcoming movie and his career in general while he was a part of press roundtable for the movie “Kill Me Three Times.”
Talking about how he got to be one of the writers of “Star Trek 3,” Simon Pegg revealed in the report that it was a result of conversations he had with J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk. He said that the producers wanted to “restart the process.” Bryan apparently offered the writing position to the actor on the sets of a “Mission: Impossible” movie.
Simon Pegg explained that he was initially reluctant to take up the position, citing a reason that the added responsibility would be “too much pressure.” The “Star Trek” franchise has been around since the 1960s, when the first season of the TV series was released. The franchise has a huge fan following around the globe.
The main theme of the franchise has always been to “boldly go where no man has gone before.” The upcoming movie will move forward with this spirit of the TV series, according to the actor. He revealed that the main story of the upcoming movie will be about “frontierism,” “adventure” and “optimism.”
The actor added that the upcoming movie will not take the viewers where “no man” has gone before, but to a place where “no one” has gone before. Simon Pegg said that this was “sensibly corrected for a slighter more enlightened generation.”
Simon Pegg will appear next in the Tom Cruise starrer “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation.” “Star Trek 3” is slated to be released on July 8, 2016 in the U.S. Some of the cast members who will be reprising their roles in the Sci-Fi movie are Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Karl Urban and Anton Yelchin.
