Transfer News: Petr Cech To Arsenal Not A Done Deal
Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech played down several reports about a finalised deal of a proposed 11 million euros transfer to Arsenal.
The Sports PR Company posted a message on social media platform tweeter saying ‘No Transfer deal has been done yet for Petr Cech. As soon as [there are] any news Petr will confirm,’ which the 33-year old veteran confirmed on his tweeter account.
However, the message posted by Cech's representative was believed to be an attempt to cool off talks as the final touches are put to the sale documents and goalkeeper's new contract as per Toby Keel of eurosports.com. Initial reports, which surfaced days ago, had linked the Czech Republic international to Paris Saint-Germain and Aresnal, but recently, there were news about Cech completing a deal with the Gunners worth 100,000 euros weekly although there was no official confirmation yet.
Cech, who played 11 seasosn for the Blues, came behind Thibaut Courtois last season in Stamford Bridge. He had became instrumental in Chelsea’s success since joining the club in 2004.
Blues captain John Terry is no doubt that the four-time Premiere League winner can help a club save 12 to 15 points a season.
"I am sure if he does leave the club, which nobody wants to see, but we understand he wants to play football, he is going to be sorely missed. He will improve whatever side he goes to," Terry said. "There is obviously talk of Arsenal signing Petr and if they do get Pete, that will strengthen them for sure. He will save them 12 to 15 points a season.''
Meanwhile, Arsenal, who have not had a world-class goalkeeper in seven years, is in the verge of losing no.1 keeper David Ospina. The Colombia international is set to leave the Gunners and currently in talks of a move to Fenerbahce. Ospina, who has been Premiere League’s best goalkeeper since Christmas, confirmed that the Turkish club is dealing with his agent.
