Transfer News: Van Gaal Blasts Media For Creating David De Gea ‘Conflict’
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has reasons to be upset with the media, as his star goalkeeper David de Gea has been the subject of seemingly never ending speculations, and he showed it in one phone interview with a certain Spanish outlet.
The Dutch mentor was prompted with a no-brainer of a question, asked if he was mad at the whole frenzy that surrounded the former Atletico Madrid man.
“Yes [I’m angry with the saga], but I have no problem with it,” Van Gaal said.
“I don’t want to respond to this issue through the media. I’ll talk to my bosses, not the media, but I have no problem.”
The interviewer assumed that a conflicting situation arose out of the saga, but LVG blasted back by indicating that his assumptions were more apparent than real.
“You call it conflicting,” he added.
Real Madrid are still looking for a long-term solution for their last line of defense despite having an abled Keylor Navas in their roster. However, they would have to set another transfer fee record as far as the goalkeeping position is concerned, with the Red Devils asking for a sum around £30 million.
Financial Fair Play regulations may come into play, but the Los Blancos can very much offset such expenditure with the revenue that they are capable of generating annually, coupled with the fact that they do not have to make major acquisitions in other positions due to the quality of their squad. The La Liga giants are, so far, the richest football club in the world, earning £459.5 million, according to Deloitte Football Money League – a ranking organised annually by UK accounting firm Deloitte.
