A couple of scenes from “Iron Man 2” have supposedly led to speculations that perhaps Tony Stark’s Arc reactor is made from one of the Infinity Stones as opposed to it being made of vibranium. A theory suggests that the stone was retrieved by Tony’s father, Howard Stark, in “Captain America: The First Avenger.”

According to Cinema Blend the first scene in the 2010 “Iron Man 2” film that shows Tony Stark may have gotten his hand on an Infinity Stone is when he was “desperately looking for a replacement power source for his Arc reactor.” Tony Stark found a way to create another source through the journal his father left, which was turned over to him by Nick Fury. There he found some clues and some geometrical designs that as per Movie Pilot pose a similarity to the Tesseract. A photo posted by Movie Pilot on its site shows the scene from “Iron Man 2” where Tony Stark was leafing through his father’s journal and deciphering the clues hidden within its written calculations.

Tony Stark then reportedly creates an element based on the Tesseract, which is powerful enough to sustain his Arc reactor that it can even withstand radiation poisoning. This scene is supplied with a photo from Cinema Blend, which shows Tony holding some piece of glowing element, believed to be the Infinity Stone.

It’s believed Howard Stark was able to get his hands on some Tesseract-based element in “Captain America: The First Avenger.” A snapshot from the film posted by Movie Pilot shows him looking at the element after Steve Rogers storms the Hydra base. According to Cinema Blend, Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) does manage to get his hands on the Tesseract itself after Captain America seemingly dies.

Aside from “Iron Man 2,” a scene in “The Avengers” supposedly also hinted the possibility of Tony Stark’s Arc reactor being made from an Infinity Stone. A scene shows Loki attempting to mind-control Tony by pointing his sceptre against his chest. However, Loki’s sceptre failed to control him because of the element that makes up the Arc reactor. This is because according to Movie Pilot, “no Infinity Gem could fight another one, and thus, Loki's sceptre, either Tesseract-based, or the Mind Gem itself, couldn't control Tony.”
