UEFA Champions League 2013 Matchday 2: Borussia Dortmund vs. Olympique de Marseille Preview; Suspension is not a Problem, says Klopp; Live Online Streaming
Borrussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp will not be on the sidelines to serve a one-match ban, as his team faces an improving Olympique de Marseille side on matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League.
"For one match [the suspension] is not a problem," Klopp told uefa.com.
However, he reiterated that the difference between standing on the touch line and not is the ability to influence the game. He also expressed worries of not being in the dugout at half-time, but remains confident that assistant coach Željko Buvač will take care of things.
Dortmund met Marseille during the group stages of the 2011-12 campaign of the Champions League and lost both matches.
"Two years ago we played good football and lost by a surprisingly big margin, especially in Marseille and then we lost here as well," he added.
"We have a little bit of a feeling that revenge is in the air. Not a lot, but a little bit."
"We still know some of their players from two years ago. They play really well, with lots of pace and good transitions. They are strong in attack was well as in defence. But the good news is we are not so bad either and have ways of giving other teams problems."
"Two years ago, we maybe played a bit naive, but that's understandable. I'd like to think that we have become more mature and am quite optimistic about that."
Klopp is well aware of the pressure that comes with playing a home game as well as the importance of securing the win because it will boost their chances of advancing from their group.
"Tomorrow's winner has a foot in the door" he said.
Dortmund handed SC Freiburg a 5-0 thrashing on Saturday and seems to have bounced back from the Napoli loss.
Marco Reus and Robert Lewandowski each scored a brace, while Jakub Błaszczykowski accounted for one.
Black and Yellows goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller will serve his one-game suspension after incurring a red card against Napoli and Marcel Schmelzer is out with injury, while Sven Bender may suit up.
On the other hand, Les Phocéens boss Elie Baup believes that his team should not worry too much about about the game but enjoy it and gain an invaluable experience from it.
According to him, Marseille benefits from the good combination of veteran leadership and youth dynamism and will just have to figure out the right selection.
"We have a good mixture of young and experienced players," said Baup.
"We now have to do some slight adjustments, see who fits best with who and so on."
"[Dortmund] play very attacking football with great pressing and counter-pressing. In that area, we can learn a bit from them. We have tried to improve our ball-winning skills and becoming more precise in our finishing."
Andrew Ayew and Mathieu Valbuena scored a goal each in their 2-0 win against FC Lorient on Saturday in the Ligue 1.
Key absentees are André-Pierre Gignac, Jérémy Morel, and Benoît Cheyrou.
