A couple of witnesses in both cities took the trouble of filming the rare UFO sightings with the camera on their mobile phones. The videos on the mysterious lights were shared on YouTube for the other viewers to see.
Reactions on the posted UFO sightings video were mixed with some viewers agreeing that the spotted lights were really UFOs while the others claim that the videos may have been controlled or the flying objects are something else like a different aircraft or even Chinese lanterns.
A male eyewitness, only identified as username Cbazz on YouTube, shared that seven or eight "amber" lights appeared over the Tucson sky on the evening of July 27. He further added that some of the mysterious lights were moving solo while the others hovered in pairs.
YouTube username Cbazz wrote on the video shared: "My family and I witnessed these strange amber lights in Tucson on our way home from dinner. There were seven or eight of them crossing the sky, some solo and others in pairs flying very, very close together."
According to the witness, he has been living in that area where very loud fighter jets from the Air Force base can be heard. "The objects we saw tonight were silent and moving across the sky very fast. The objects that were paired were flying closer together than I have ever seen any kind of jet or plane fly at that speed, and they never separated or drifted apart from a uniform distance," the witness recalled.
Additionally, the witness was able to observe the UFOs movement and direction while filming them above the sky. "They moved from south to north and then one by one or in a pair they vanished never to reappear in pretty much the same place. Not sure what we were seeing, but I never really believed in this sort of thing until tonight. Glad I had my phone to record," the witness stated.
A doubting Thomas on the UFO sightings reported in the two cities is former FBI Special Agent Ben Hansen and he expressed his thoughts on the subject matter. "In my opinion both videos are definitely man-made, combustible objects -- most likely Chinese lanterns," Mr Hansen stated.
The FBI Agent further noted: "The Kansas City video is slightly different, especially in the beginning because they appear to move more quickly, but that could simply be a perspective illusion of the videographer's zoom and shaky tracking."
