The Ultimate Battlefield 3 Experience: Virtual Reality Dome
Do you consider yourself a Battlefield fan? Then if you really want to experience the game, you don't need to look further than the combat simulator built by The Gadget Show.
Featuring an igloo-shaped screen nearly 30-feet across and five projectors that keep the screen in front of the player at all times, this really immerses you in Battlefield 3. The set-up also uses a roller-driven, omnidirectional treadmill created by a Swedish company that makes simulators for military use. Who says that gamers don't get enough exercise? The room even simulates bullet hits by pelting the player with paintball guns. Getting hit with a paintball should be an incentive for gamers not to lose. Players are equipped with an appBlaster toy gun synced with the PC running Battlefield 3.
The Gadget Show has posted a video showing how the set-up was built. Mainly it involved presenters Suzi Perry and Jason Bradbury convincing companies to give them the materials needed for the build. Gamers who don't have the same dedication can just enjoy their copy of Battlefield 3 on their PCs, Xbox 360s and PlayStations.
The set-up is ridiculously expensive and so out there that gamers everywhere will want this for Christmas. Can someone build an arcade version of this?
