Upcoming 4K 12-inch Sony Xperia Tablet: 12-inch Sony Xperia Is the New iPad Retina?
Many tech companies have joined the "Retina" or "high-res" wagon. As Apple introduced the Retina on its iPad offering, it seems Sony Xperia will soon be featuring a similar technology. According to the leak, Sony may be working on a 12-inch Xperia tablet with a 4k display.
Engadget reported there seems to be a surge of 4k 12-inch slates from Japan Display. Leading tech companies like Toshiba, Hitachi and Sony have joined forces to incorporate the 4k technology from Japan Display. The companies integrated a 4k resolution in a 12.1-inch TFT module.
For users not satisfied with the Retina from Apple, sources said the 4k from Japan Display may hit the spot. The display will be providing 365 pixels per inch. According the press release, the new screen module may also sport a thin display and power-saving capabilities.
Sony is reportedly part of this group along with Panasonic. Recently, Panasonic has announced the Toughpad UT-MB5. The device will sport a 4k display. There is no official confirmation yet whether the device will find stores soon or if the general public can get their hands on it immediately.
The slate will target professionals like architects for the meantime. The product promises excellent presentations and other file-sharing functions. If Panasonic succeeds in this, Sony may just receive similar reception for their upcoming Xperia tablet. For the past few months, the Japanese tech giant has gained praises and sales for its Xperia line.
