Upcoming Windows-Powered HP Stream 14 Notebook To Cost $199; Looks Similar To Chromebook 14
Recently, Microsoft announced that it is working with its device manufacturing partner on a budget-friendly laptop that runs on Windows OS. According to a recent leak, the partner mentioned by Microsoft is none other than HP.
The latest leak from MobileGeeks points to a brand new HP made inexpensive computer model. Dubbed as "HP Stream 14," the device features a 14-inch display and 1,366 x 768 pixels screen resolution. The device will run on the latest Windows 8.1 OS. The brightness and the weight of this device stand at 200 nits and 1.75 kg respectively. The quoted price of the HP Stream 14 is $199, according to GSM Arena.
The device categorized as notebook will reportedly be powered by a quad-core AMD Mullins A4 Micro-6400T SoC and an integrated Radeon R3 for graphics. In addition, the device will be backed by 2 GB of RAM. Going by the leaked image, the chip's architecture will come bundled with a heat sink. However, there is no internal fan to ward off the generated heat.
When it comes to onboard memory, the HP Stream 14 notebook will come equipped with two internal storage choices 32 GB and 64 GB. The device also comes with SD slot for further expansion. Adding cherry on top, Microsoft will give away a whopping 100 GB of free OneDrive cloud storage space for two years upon purchasing this notebook. This deal is again similar to the 100 GB of free Google Drive storage space that comes bundled with HP Chromebook purchase, says The Verge. Furthermore, the notebook also houses a powerful 32Wh battery unit.
Going by the look, forgetting the obvious Windows sticker on the palm rests of the upcoming HP Stream 14, the notebook looks similar to the HP Chromebook 14. It is worth noting that, the Chromebook 14 also comes with the same 14-inch display that was released in 2013.
Apart from providing standard connectivity support, the notebook comes with a USB v3.0 port, two USB v2.0 ports, and a HDMI port. As a bonus, the HP Stream 14 notebook comes with four killer speakers and Beats Audio enhancement support. Even though the device is expected to be launched soon, there is no word from Microsoft on this notebook thus far.
