Update Samsung Galaxy Note with Android 4.4.2 KitKat Lightning ROM
Samsung Galaxy Note owners have the option to upgrade to Android 4.4.2 through a Lightning ROM. This means users no longer have to wait for the official roll out or OTA of the update to experience the latest Android mobile operating system. Users must be careful in installing custom ROMs to their devices. There are several requirements they have to satisfy to install the ROM.
The ROM mentioned feature Multi-Window Support, Pie Control, OTA Update support and Floating Window. It is important to note that the ROM caters to N7000 model of the Galaxy Note. The ROM also provides Dolby sound enhancement support. Users looking for a fast, smooth and stable ROM can use the Lighting firmware to update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Note: Providers of the update cannot be held responsible for what happens to the device following installation. Users can update at their own risk. Users should take note that this firmware is not an official release from Samsung.
Requirements before ROM installation:
- Install custom recovery program like ClockworkMod for flashing zip package and Google Apps zip.
- Charge battery at least 80%.
- Make sure the device has model number N7000. Installing the ROM on other devices may result to bricked or broken units.
- Prepare a backup of all important data and settings. The installation will wipe out most information on the device.
Follow these steps when installing Lightning ROM on Galaxy Note 2 according to Team Android:
1. Download the necessary USB drivers for the device. Make sure you install drivers for Galaxy Note N7000 model.
2. As mentioned, create a back up of important information. Users can use Samsung KIES for creating backup or the ClockworkMod program. TWRP is also an option.
3. Download Lighting ROM and Google Apps Package.
4. Connect device to computer and transfer the zip files.
5. Turn off Phone.
6. Put it into Recovery Mode. Turn the device on. Press and Hold Volume Up + Power + Home buttons together.
7. Do a factory reset.
8. Install the zip files for the ROM. Do the same thing for the Apps package.
9. Reboot the device.
