Samsung has always been a big mystery to many Android users every time Google releases a new version of its Android operating system. For quite some time, Samsung has been rolling out the official Android 4.4.2 update for many Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000 users. As for those who are still waiting, they have the option to use a custom ROM to try out the update.
Note of caution: Providers of the update cannot be held responsible for what happens to the device following the update. Custom ROMs are provided by third party sources. They are often test builds. Users can update at their own risk.
Samsung Galaxy Note users can now update to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat update through a custom ROM. According to a report by GSM Arena, the device previously ran on Android version 2.3.5 Gingerbread. Officially, it can be updated to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The Lighting ROM is now available for people who cannot wait for the official announcement and notification for their devices.
According to Team Android, the Lighting ROM is based on the current Android Open Source Project or ASOP. This offers "PIE CONTROL, MULTIWINDOW SUPPORT, FLOATING WINDOW and OTA UPDATE support." The team also added in their post:
"Plus this ROM also includes Dolby sound enhancement for audiophiles. This ROM is very much stable, fast and smooth."
It is important for users to back up all data before installing a custom ROM. There are many backup and recovery apps available. The custom ROM should be downloaded from the third party site provided. Users should make sure their device model is compatible with the coverage of the custom ROM. To make sure the device has a similar model number, open Settings, tap of About Device then check on the Model Number. User should also have custom recovery tools like ClockWorkMod. Custom ROMs usually require people to do enable USB debugging and do a factory reset.
