A lot of users are complaining that the MacBook Pros with retina display experience repeated keyboard and trackpad freezes that can be remedied only with a hard reset. However, Apple is releasing a solution to the problem.

Both 13-inch and 15-inch model experience the issues. Most users say that a hard system reset is the only way to fix the problem. Other users said that closing the lid and reopening it can also solve the problem. Several users who have tried the old standby troubleshooting step of resetting the laptop's System Management Controller via a keyboard combination on startup say that it does not provide any solution.

Apple added a section to its Support Pages regarding a recently reported issue with the new MacBook Pro with Retina display that, for some users, causes laptop's keyboard and trackpad to freeze unexpectedly.

According to the document, Apple said it is aware of an issue and is reportedly working toward a solution that should be available soon.

For now, Apple suggests resetting the keyboard and trackpad by closing the computer's display to put it to sleep for about one minute before reopening. This, however, only offers a temporary solution while the company is working on the long term fix.

Last week, Apple unveiled a thinner MacBook Pros boasting 13 and 15 inch retina screen displays and 4th generation of Intel processor dubbed as Haswell.

The basic 13-inch MacBook Pro received a retina display upgrade and features a 2.4 GHz Core i5 processor, 4GB RAM and128 GBSSD. Meanwhile, the 15-inch laptop features a quad-core i7, 8GB RAM, and 256 SSD.

Both variants run with the latest Mac OS - OS X Mavericks. The new Mac OS will feature "a new Maps app, a tabbed finder, iBooks, new look to the calendar, improved Safari, iCloud Keychain, multiple displays and more."

The new MacBook Pros also packs an improved battery. Apple claimed that the refreshed laptops have a battery capacity of up to 9 hours.

The new MacBook Pros follows the same pricing strategy of the previous generation of the devices. The 13-inch and 15-inch variants cost $1299 and $1999, respectively.
