Spoiler Alert: This review recaps the highlights of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 Episode 4 "For Whom the Bell Tolls."
Bonnie's secret is out.
Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R McQueen) can no longer keep a secret so he tells Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) the shocking news that Bonnie has been dead for months. Damon does not take the news so well making him very upset but eventually ends up hugging Jeremy to console each other for their loss.
Damon was the one to break the tragic news to Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) and she appears to be the most hurt with Bonnie's passing as the TVD gang said their goodbyes and tolled the bell for Bonnie. Is there a chance or way for Bonnie to come back or TVD fans will have to say goodbye to her too?
The Stefan and Elena connection.
Episode 4 has shown as well the mysterious doppelganger connection between Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Elena even though he has amnesia. The former lovers had a bonding moment after Damon left because Jeremy wanted to talk to him alone to reveal what really happened to Bonnie.
While Elena distracts Stefan from his hunger for blood, she tries to bring back Stefan's memory starting off on how they met, what they did when they were a couple or where they went. The attraction is obviously strong that made the two almost kiss but Elena was able to hold back kissing Stefan because she is now with Damon. Stefan instantly became hungry and dangerous after finding out about Damon and Elena's relationship.
Caroline to forget Tyler with Jesse?
Caroline (Candice Accola) decided to give Jesse (Kendrick Sampson) a chance to get to know him. Unfortunately, a really angry Stefan attacked and almost killed Jesse but Caroline was quick to save Jesse's life. Will Caroline's budding romance with Jesse make her forget about Tyler Lockwood (Michael Trevino)?
The evil Dr. Wes Maxfield?
The episode ending showed Dr. Wes Maxfield (Rick Cosnett) killing Jesse after finding out that a vampire attacked him. It is still unclear what Dr. Maxfield really plans to do and the question now being asked about this new character is whether he is a good or a bad guy in the brand new season of "The Vampire Diaries."
Australian actor Rick Cosnett, who portrays Dr. Maxfield, revealed some details to ET Television about his character in the CW TV series. "It's fun because he's not necessarily bad. It's the wonderful dichotomy that we all have," Mr Cosnett stated.
The actor further shared: "I think he's a nice human being. Or is he? [laughs] Well, he has human qualities either way, and feelings and a life and people that he loves. It's interesting to show how someone gets to a place where he does things that people might not look at as 'good.' His confidence masks the hurt that's underneath and is propelling a lot of the choices he makes. He's still finding his feet."
Viewers can find out what will happen next in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 with Episode 5 titled "Monster's Ball" scheduled to air on Thursday night, October 31, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW network.
