"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 certainly brings a lot of twists and turns to the old and new characters like the surprising revelation about Nadia (Olga Fonda) being the daughter of Katerina Petrova or Katherine Pierce (Nina Dobrev). Furthermore, the synopsis for upcoming Episode 7 "Death and the Maiden" teases the viewers with the possibility that Amara (Nina Dobrev) can help in bringing Bonnie (Kat Graham) back to life.

The mystery behind the doppelgangers is expected to be revealed as well in Episode 7 especially now that Nina Dobrev is portraying three characters in the CW TV series with Amara as the original Petrova doppelganger. In the mean time, new cast member Olga Fonda opened up in an interview with HollywoodLife.com about her character Nadia Petrova and what fans can expect with the reunited mother and daughter.

Ms Fonda, 31, shared that she was also surprised to find out about Nadia's relationship with Katherine. The actress stated: "When I read the episode, I could not believe it. What a twist! I was excited, knowing that this would be a fun thing between Nina and I, and it would be an interesting journey for both of us as actresses to go through."

When asked why Nadia decided to tell Katherine that she is her daughter, Olga Fonda revealed that Nadia is hoping to meet her mother as a beautiful person inside and out and not the "mean and awful" woman that people describe her. "Nadia was hoping - as every child does - that her mother is beautiful and wonderful. Maybe she hoped she could prove her wrong, that she is this wonderful person. But when Katherine played that game with her, Nadia decided it was time to tell the truth," Ms Fonda explained.

Katherine may still be alive after Silas drained her blood to consume "The Cure" but Dr Wes Maxfield (Rick Cosnett) delivers the "deeply disturbing news" regarding her existence. "But how exactly is Katherine still alive? Some theories we are thinking is that Katherine has a hex on her, and will most of hexes are bad, maybe this one is good. Nadia is a Traveler meaning she is skilled in witchcraft, so perhaps Katherine's own daughter is behind her immortality," the Latin Times report reads.

Regarding Nadia's connection to the "Travelers" and the "Anchor," Olga Fonda admitted that they are still discovering who and what the "Travelers" really are. The Russian actress teased: "You still don't really even know why they exist and what they're doing. Nadia kind of made it clear that, yes, she's a Traveler, but she also does her own thing. She might be, or might not be, connected to the anchor as a Traveler. She's in town for her own agenda, which was to find Katherine and to learn more about her."

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, Episode 7 "Death and the Maiden" airs on Thursday night, November 14, at 8 p.m. ET on the CW network.
